1st Army, Meet DAK Wall

Posted by on Nov 23, 2017 in Club News

Week 3 summary: Congratulations to Zenon Berg for winning the random gift card prize draw for week 3! Zenon and Chris you can see me on Friday for you gift cards!  Week 3 saw the US 1st army smash against the wall that was the DAK. The DAK only lost in one of the battles along the front. The town of Medjez el Bab has stayed in German hands.   The only loss was a narrow one with a battered CO and extremely short handed British Motor platoon managing to stave off the surge of DAK panzers that Lieutnant Allen Strettons commanded. The few remaining men of the 4th platoon under Lieutenant Bradfords command secured the town center from the DAK forces. After losing most of their support the 21st Panzers decided to regroup before pushing the combined US and...

See Kyle at Imaginary Wars to receive your card.  As the 1st army rages across Morocco and Algeria the Germans are pushed back behind the Tunisian border. In the south the 8th army has already pushed the DAK forces back to the Tunisia border as well and things are looking grave as the DAK set up a defense of the remainder of the country and their presence in North Africa. The DAK forces are preparing a staunch defence around the city of Medjez el Bab. In addition they are preparing an offensive in the Kasserine Pass....

On Artillery Part 2:

Posted by on Oct 21, 2016 in Club News

On Artillery Part 2: A further examination by Igor Pavlovski In the present article I would like to continue the discussion of the role of artillery in Flames of War. In my previous post I pointed to the fact that killing enemy models is not a single possible role for an artillery piece in a list. Here, I would like to prove the point with a limited number crunching focused on the use of artillery against tanks. Disclaimer: I focus on artillery with AT4. Access to AT5 artillery and its quality noticeably varies between different nations and requires separate investigation. It is a common knowledge in the community that newly-released Soviet 160 mm mortars are an ultimate anti-tank weapon. Re-rolling first attempt to range-in is invaluable against moving targets, while AT 4 Fp 2+ bombardment can really scare a...
