Bringing Calgary gamers together

Blood Bowl League of Calgary

The Blood Bowl League of Calgary (BBLOC) is an organized group of dedicated Blood Bowl players that meet once a week to face off in the most enjoyable high-fantasy football game there is!

The BBLOC was formed out of the remains of the Alberta Blood Bowl Association (ABBA) in 2009 and has been active ever since. In 2009 and 2010, the BBLOC had an open schedule which allowed for players to play any number of games against any opponent. In mid 2011, the BBLOC switched to a more structured format and is currently in its second season under the new format. Although there is no formal commissioner, a small number of players are in charge of league format and rules, scheduling and other administrative tasks.

Structure

The BBLOC uses the CRP rules pack from Games Workshop with a few minor house rules.

The BBLOC seasons are 10-12 games long and run 3-4 months, depending on the holiday calendar. Coaches in the league are expected to play an average of one game per week in order to complete all of the games they have been assigned. The BBLOC is flexible as to when, where and how quickly games get played as many coaches have prior commitments, but the majority of games get played on Sunday afternoon at the Sentry Box.

New Coaches

Since the BBLOC uses a structured format for its schedule, we cannot accept new entries into the league mid season. Since the seasons are so short, however, we are able to get new coaches into the group without too much of a wait. When the current season is within a month or two of ending, the BBLOC will post messages on forums, Twitter and Facebook in an effort to attract new members. If, in the meantime, we have coaches that are interested in joining our group, many of our members would be happy to play one-off games. Many of our coaches are also willing to teach new players how to play, so even if you are new to the game, we invite you to come down to our game day and introduce yourself!
